Born in Petersburg in 1959. Graduated from the Leningrad Glinka Academic Capella Choir School, then from the Institute of Culture and Arts, undertook an internship at the department of public speaking and music education of the St. Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy. That time he began teaching music and group singing for Lev Dodin's class, was a professor of the music education department. Alexandrov has been a coach at the Maly Drama Theatre since 1988. Participated in creation of many productions, such as Gaudeamus, The Devils, Claustrophobia, A Play Without A Title, Life and Fate, Warsaw Melody, Love`s Labour`s Lost. Arrangements writer, choirmaster and musical director of the production of The Moscow Chorus. Mikhail teaches workshops in Russia and abroad. He is the winner of the Russian State Prize 2003.
