Alexey Poray-Koshits

Born in 1941. Alexey Poray-Koshits graduated from the staging department of the Leningrad Theatre Institute in the class of the leading set designer and director Nikolay Akimov. Alexey staged his first performance - The Master based on stories by Maxim Gorky - at the Leningrad Young Viewers' Theatre. He has worked with leading Leningrad directors Z. Korogodsky, Y. Padve, Y. Khamarmer, and V. Sudarushkin. Alexey Poray-Koshits is a unique specialist - set designer, technician and organizer of artistic staging. For several years he worked at the Moscow Taganka Theatre where he was in charge of staging. He has worked as a theatre technician with many of the best artists in the country, such as Eduard Kochergin, David Borovsky, Valentin Dorrer, Marina Azizyan and Igor Ivanov. 
Alexey Poray-Koshits has worked at the Maly Drama Theatre since 1984, first as staging manager, then as deputy director and set designer. Poray-Koshits has created sets for performances of Stars in the Morning Sky, Gaudeamus, Claustrophobia, A Play Without a Title, Chevengur and The Seagull staged by Lev Dodin.
