Graduated from Leningrad State Institute of Theatre Music and Cinematography in1964 (T. Bruni's class). Has been a member of the Russian Artists' Union since 1978. Inna Gabay has created costumes for 150 performances, the best-known of which are The Friends, The Last Hobo, Maklena Grasa, Like a Lion, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Minor, The Earthly Realm at the Liteyny Comedy and Drama Theatre; Lion in Love, The Old Man, The Rain Merchant, The Oriental Tribunal, Lev Gurych Sinichkin and Balakirev the Buffon" at the Komissarzhevskaya Theatre; Monologue about Marriage and Zoya's Apartment at the Comedy Theatre; The Last Ones at the Lenin`s Komsomol Theatre; The Cherry Orchard at the Lensovet Theatre; There Once Was a Little Girl at the Leningrad Young Viewers' Theatre; The Fighters, And Quiet Flows the Don, Wolves and Sheep, The Death of Tarelkin, The Pickwick Club, Energetic People, Cats and Mice, Visit of an Old Lady, and others at the Bolshoy Drama Theatre named after Tovstonogov; What Goes Around Comes Around at the Moscow Maly Theatre. Gabay has worked at theatres in Japan, the United States, Canada, Yugoslavia, Germany, France and Finland.
She debuted at the Maly Drama Theatre with Talented People and Admirers in 1971, then worked on more than 20 performances, including Taste of Honey, Look Back in Anger, The Officers, Fiesta and others. She has worked with Lev Dodin for 30 years. Inna Gabay has created costumes for his performances of It's a Family Affair (Leningrad Young Viewers' Theatre); The Robber, The Rose Tattoo, Live and Remember, The House, Brothers and Sisters, The Cherry Orchard, The Devils, The Bankrupt (Helsinki National Theatre), A Gentle Creature, (BDT and MKhAT), The Golovlev Family (MKhAT).
