Born in Nizhny Novgorod in 1946. Graduated from the Nizhny Novgorod Theatre School, and then from the theatre criticism department, and completed a graduate degree at the public speaking department of the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre Music and Cinematography. Since 1979 has worked as a coach for actors at the Maly Drama Theatre. Participated in creation of the legendary productions, such as The House, Brothers and Sisters, Lord Of The Flies, The Devils, Claustrophobia, A Play Without a Title, The Moscow Chorus, Life and Fate, Love`s Labour`s Lost. Valery Galendeev also worked as an Assistant director on operas produced by Lev Dodin: Elektra, Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, Mazepa, The Queen of Spades, The Demon, Salome. Valery Galendeev teaches workshops in Russia and abroad. He is the winner of The Russian State Prize, the Stanislavsky Prize winner.
