Born in the town of Opochka Pskov region in 1954. Graduated from the the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre Music and Cinematography (Katsman and Dodin’s class) in 1979. Till 1982 he worked in different theatres of Tomsk. Since 1982 has worked with the Maly Drama Theatre. Plays the King in “Puss in Boots,” Pakuev in “The Elephant,” the Archer in “The Humpbacked Pony,” Khodok in “Blue Steeds on Red Grass.” Has been an actor with the Maly Drama Theatre since 1982. Plays Trofim Lobanov and Petr Zhitov in Brothers and Sister, Virginsky in The Devils, Old Shepherd in The Winter`s Tale, Gavrila Andreevich in Mumu, Uncle Sasha in Small Restaurant, Bugrov in A Play Without a Title, Weinberg in The Disappearance, Kirey in Chevengur, Treplev in The Seagull, Telegin in Uncle Vanya, Adolphus Grigson in The Shadow of a Gunman, Boyet in Love`s Labour`s Lost. Has appeared in more than 40 films, including The Russian Hunt, Russian Fishing, The Cold Summer of 1953, National Security Agent, Guga, The Child, Coma, Comrade Chkalov Conquers the North Pole, The Mole, The Special Department, etc.
