Petr Semak

Born in the village of Spasskoye, Dnepropetrovsk Area in 1960,. Graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre Music and Cinematography (Katsman and Dodin’s class) in 1983. The same year Petr was invited to join the Maly Drama Theatre Company. Plays Mikhail Pryaslin in Brothers and Sisters, Stavrogin in The Devils, Leontes in The Winter’s Tale, Gerasim in Mumu, Doctor Rice in Molly Sweeney, Chepurny in Chevengur, Astrov in Uncle Vanya, King Lear in King Lear, Jeckie in Long Day`s Journey Into Night.
People’s Artist of Russia (2006); winner of a USSR State Prize (1986 for the role of Mikhail Pryaslin in Brothers and Sisters); winner of the Russian State Prize 2000 (for the role of Septimus in Arcadia staged at Tovstonogov`s Bolshoi Drama Theatre); winner of a 1998 Golden Sofit Award; winner of the Special Award of the Jury of the Golden Mask Award 2007 (Lear – King Lear); winner of the Stanislavsky Prize 2008in the nominations “Actor`s Craft” and “For the valuable contribution into the Russian Theatre”
